UAE still blocks VoIP Technology
VoIP, one of the easiest ways to make worldwide calls, is still being blocked in UAE. The government has put up strict regulations not allowing outgoing or incoming calls to pass without going to their government controlled telecommunication companies. Etisilat, the leading government company, rules the VoIP market in UAE. This was done because the government was losing out revenue because third party providers.
UAE is one of the strictest countries in the world. Other such VoIP services were being innovative providing residents the ability to make cheap calls to UAE and out. Therefore, the only way to make VoIP calls to UAE is via the expensive prices. VoIP in UAE will cost upwards of 12 cents per minute. This is fairly expensive taking into factor that UAE is a globalizing country.
Major businesses hold offices in UAE and therefore communication is truly important. UAE is losing out on potential business because if international businesses are not encouraged to expand into UAE then their government will lose out on potential revenue as well. Therefore, it is not smart to limit consumers. Everyone wants to make cheap calls to UAE.
VoIP is the sort of technology that is connecting the world into one. Countries that are blocking VoIP technology are separating themselves from the entire world. This is true because those countries are not going to receive new business proposals. VoIP needs to be incorporated in UAE and to do this the ban needs to be lifted.
